At least 10 people have lost their lives in widespread protests against the government in Iran since Wednesday, according to both state-affiliated media and rights groups. Among the dead is a man identified by authorities as a member of the Basij paramilitary force. State television also reported arrests in the western city of Kermanshah, where several individuals were accused of making petrol bombs and homemade pistols. Additionally, Iranian media said that two heavily armed people were detained in central and western regions before they could launch attacks.
