Chief minister M K Stalin announced that the government has rescued nearly 2,400 Tamils facing difficulties in various countries and states over the past three years. Speaking at the Non-resident Tamils Welfare Day in Chennai, Stalin emphasized the proactive measures taken to protect non-resident Tamils, including financial assistance for families in case of death.
Stalin urged non-resident Tamils to remember their roots and highlighted the unifying power of the Tamil language. During the event, he listened to the aspirations of five non-resident Tamils under a newly launched scheme and presented awards to individuals who have excelled in various fields.
Notable recognitions included the Tamil Mamani award to Annamalai for his service to Tamils in Australia and the Kaniyan Poonkundran awards to several individuals from countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Germany, and the United States for their contributions in education and other sectors.
