Arms smuggling suspect killed in car crash during police chase in south

A 25-year-old man suspected of arms smuggling was killed after crashing his car during a police chase near the Bedouin community of Ararat an-Naqab in the south. Police say the pursuit began when officers suspected the vehicle was being used to transport illegal weapons. During the chase, officers fired at the car's tires, and the driver reportedly threw an M16 rifle out of the window before losing control and crashing. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. The incident occurred amid a broader police operation targeting firearms crime in Bedouin communities, which has led to increased police presence and previous casualties.
