Emtelle, a fibre optic cable company headquartered in southern Scotland, has finalized a significant deal in Indonesia aimed at boosting its global manufacturing capacity and enhancing supply-chain resilience. The agreement will enable Emtelle to utilize fibre manufactured in south-east Asia for its products, which are distributed to customers in the United States and Europe.
Chief executive Tony Rodgers described the deal as a major milestone for the company, which was founded in Jedburgh in 1980 and now serves more than 50 countries. Emtelle employs around 800 people worldwide, with about half of its workforce based in the Scottish Borders.
The company's investment in fibre drawing capacity is seen as a strategic move to address tightening supply and rising global demand in the industry. Emtelle operates manufacturing facilities across Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
