Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Israel will not achieve its objectives in Lebanon through continued military strikes, as cross-border violence intensifies. His remarks came after Israel targeted Hezbollah positions across Lebanon, killing more than 200 fighters following renewed rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel.
Aoun expressed Lebanon's full readiness to resume negotiations with Israel to address key security issues and halt what he described as a dangerous escalation. He emphasized the need for talks aimed at stabilizing the situation along the border.
In a pointed message to Hezbollah and its allies, Aoun said the Lebanese Army would continue confiscating weapons when conditions allow. He warned that any attempt to undermine the army would serve those seeking to draw Lebanon into a broader regional war, stressing that most اللبناني citizens want the state alone to decide matters of war and peace.
