IDF says killed Hamas commander in Gaza after ceasefire violation

The Israel Defense Forces said it carried out a strike in the Gaza Strip, killing Kamal Ayash, described as a key commander in the anti-tank unit of the Hamas movement. The military said the action was taken in response to what it called a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

According to the army, a Palestinian gunman opened fire on Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip on Saturday. No injuries were reported in that incident. The military did not specify when the strike that killed Ayash occurred.
