Ukraine has deployed more than 200 air defense specialists to the Middle East and Gulf region at the request of partners, including the United States, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a visit to London. The move comes as Ukraine has developed advanced drone and counter drone capabilities during four years of war following Russia's full scale invasion.
Zelensky said Ukraine can produce up to 2,000 interceptor drones per day and is prepared to supply half of that output to allied countries to strengthen their defenses. He added that Ukraine is also developing underwater and ocean capable drones, expanding its technological reach beyond the battlefield at home.
During talks in Britain, the two countries agreed to deepen cooperation on drone production and military technology, combining Ukraine's battlefield expertise with Britain's manufacturing capacity. The partnership includes collaboration on the effective use of artificial intelligence in warfare and joint efforts to export drone technology to third countries.
British leaders stressed that support for Ukraine must not waver despite rising tensions in the Middle East and higher global energy prices. Discussions also involved broader European security, sanctions on Russia, and new defense financing mechanisms with several European partners to increase the supply of munitions and military equipment.
