Jeff Bezos is in early discussions with investors in the Middle East and Asia to raise up to $100 billion for a new investment fund tied to his artificial intelligence start-up, Project Prometheus. The proposed fund could rank among the largest in the world, comparable in size to major global technology investment funds.
The fund would invest in or acquire companies that could benefit from the artificial intelligence technology being developed by Project Prometheus. The start-up is focused on improving engineering and manufacturing across industries such as computing and aerospace.
Project Prometheus was founded by Bezos and former Google researcher Vik Bajaj and has already secured $6.2 billion in funding, including contributions from Bezos. The new investment vehicle would operate under the same holding company as the start-up, according to people familiar with the discussions.
