The Pakistan Cricket Board has issued a disciplinary notice to fast bowler Naseem Shah after he criticized a politician's presence at the opening match of the Pakistan Super League in Lahore. The tournament is being held without spectators due to government advice to limit travel and work from home amid rising fuel costs linked to regional conflict.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz attended the opening game at Gaddafi Stadium and was introduced to franchise officials and players. Shah responded to a social media post about the event by questioning why she was treated 'like the queen at Lord's.' He later deleted the comment and claimed his account had been hacked.
The cricket board said Shah violated the terms of his central contract and media regulations and must respond to the notice before any further action is decided. Shah is scheduled to play for Rawalpindi Pindiz in the tournament and has represented Pakistan extensively across test matches, one-day internationals and Twenty20 games.
