A 12-year-old Israeli girl was killed when a bus carrying Israeli tourists rolled down a slope at a ski resort in the Savoie region of the French Alps overnight between Friday and Saturday. The group had been leaving their hotel in Val Thorens and heading to the airport after a vacation.
According to local reports, the incident occurred shortly after 12:30 a.m. The driver exited the vehicle to address a malfunction, at which point the bus began rolling backward, fell approximately 10 meters down a steep slope and overturned.
Eight passengers sustained light injuries and were taken to a hospital in Albertville, while others were treated at the scene. Authorities said the bus came to rest against a stone structure, and tests confirmed that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
