A senior kidney specialist at Royal Perth Hospital has been suspended after allegations he operated a covert online trolling network targeting fellow medical professionals with antisemitic and racially abusive content. The Medical Board of Australia has referred the doctor to a professional standards tribunal for alleged misconduct, and his registration has been suspended while the matter is investigated.
Former midwife Sharon Stoliar said she endured more than a year of alleged harassment, claiming the doctor repeatedly targeted her on social media with insulting and racist remarks. She said the abuse intensified after she filed complaints, and that others later came forward with similar experiences. A separate Jewish doctor also alleged he received dozens of unsolicited messages featuring Palestinian symbols despite having no prior interaction with the accused.
The hospital was reportedly made aware of concerns in 2024, while the national health regulator has stated it takes discrimination allegations seriously. The case has drawn political attention, with calls for stronger oversight amid concerns about discrimination within the health system.
