Mary Anne Velasquez de Vera, a 32-year-old Philippine national, was killed in an Iranian strike on Tel Aviv on March 1, 2026. She was working as a caregiver and lived with her patient at the time of the attack.
According to the Israeli embassy in the Philippines, de Vera was injured while helping her patient reach safety during Operation Roaring Lion. The embassy described her actions as selfless and said she was identified by her husband, who also works in Israel, along with their family.
President Isaac Herzog spoke with Philippine Ambassador to Israel Aileen Mendiola to express his condolences. The embassy statement said de Vera's death underscores the impact of the ongoing conflict on civilians, including overseas Filipino workers in Israel.
