Australian cricket great Brett Lee recently described Dubai as 'one of the safest places in the world' for women and children after relocating his family to the United Arab Emirates, only weeks before Iranian missile and drone strikes targeted the city. Lee, 49, confirmed in February that he had moved full-time, citing safety, lifestyle and business opportunities as key reasons for the decision.
This week, Iranian strikes damaged several major sites in Dubai, including the airport, the Burj Al Arab and a hotel on Palm Jumeirah. Debris from intercepted drones caused fires and injuries, flights were temporarily suspended and infrastructure across the region was disrupted. Authorities said most of the missiles and drones were intercepted, though multiple people were hurt.
Lee said his wife and three children had transitioned smoothly to life in Dubai and praised the city’s multicultural environment and commercial prospects. The attacks come amid a widening conflict involving Iran, Israel and the United States, with escalating strikes across the region, rising casualties and growing economic disruption, including increased oil prices and airspace closures.
