African figurines illuminate Early Christian life in the Negev, Israel

Ebony and bone pendants carved in the likeness of African men and women have been found in sixth-seventh-century Christian graves in Israel. The pendants are linked to long-distance trade and residents with African ancestry who practiced Christianity in the Negev region.
