Arab nations turn on Hamas as they call on terror group to disband

In a significant development, leading Arab nations including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt have joined with Western countries to call for Hamas to disband and relinquish control of Gaza. The joint declaration, issued after a high-level United Nations conference, marks the first time key Arab powers have publicly demanded that Hamas be stripped of power, describing the move as historic. The statement also condemns the October 7 attack on Israel, demands the release of all hostages, and urges Hamas to hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority as part of a push for a two-state solution.

The declaration calls on Israeli leadership to commit to a two-state solution and proposes the deployment of a temporary international stabilisation mission in Gaza after the war. Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with United Nations agencies warning of mass starvation and hundreds killed while seeking aid. Neither Israel nor the United States participated in the conference or signed the declaration, while Iran remains opposed to any regional normalization with Israel. The statement reflects growing international pressure for a renewed peace process, though hopes for a two-state solution remain uncertain.
