Musician and composer Piris Eliyahu is preparing to debut his new work, 'Advat' (Ripples), in a series of performances beginning August 21 at Jerusalem's Confederation House. The piece brings together Eastern and Western musical traditions, featuring Eliyahu alongside his wife, pianist Larissa Eliyahu, and double bass player Daniel Avrin. Eliyahu's compositions draw from maqam, an Eastern system of musical scales, and contrast these with Western ballads, reflecting his personal and societal experiences during challenging times.
The trio's collaboration is deeply rooted in family ties and long-standing musical partnerships, with Eliyahu and Larissa having played together since their teenage years. Their son, Mark Eliyahu, is also a noted musician, continuing the family's musical legacy. The ensemble's performances are described as sincere and intimate, offering audiences a space for emotional expression and connection. Following the premiere, 'Advat' will be performed at several venues across Israel in the coming months.
