Haredi protesters staged large demonstrations across central Israel on Wednesday evening, blocking major highways in the Sharon area to protest the arrest of individuals avoiding military service and the Draft Law. The action was organized by the Committee for the Salvation of Torah World, who directed participants to obstruct key traffic arteries including Highway 2, Highway 4, Highway 57, and Highway 6. Police forces clashed with demonstrators and attempted to disperse them, leading to significant traffic jams throughout the region.
The protest was initially announced to take place in front of Prison 10 at Beit Lid, but organizers used this as a diversion, instead targeting multiple major roads. The group declared this demonstration as the beginning of an ongoing campaign against what they describe as persecution of Torah learners, vowing continued action until their demands are addressed.
