The Israeli military has announced the elimination of Muhammad Abd al-Aziz Abu Zubaida, the head of the 'Palestine District' of the Islamic State organization in the Gaza Strip. The operation was carried out in Bureij under the guidance of the Southern Command and Intelligence Directorate. Abu Zubaida was considered the most senior figure of the group in Gaza, responsible for policy-making, planning, and overseeing activities across multiple regions including Judea and Samaria, the Gaza Strip, and the Sinai Peninsula.

According to military statements, the Islamic State organization had been actively involved in combat against Israeli forces in Gaza, as well as facilitating the transfer of equipment and raising funds for terror activities. The military emphasized its ongoing commitment to targeting terrorist organizations in the region.
