BBC uses journalist who called for 'Jews to be burned' again

The BBC has come under scrutiny for featuring Samer Elzaenen, a journalist with a history of making deeply offensive social media posts about Jews, as an expert commentator on the Gaza conflict. Elzaenen, who has appeared regularly on the broadcaster's Arabic channel, was quoted accusing Israel of using starvation as a weapon against Palestinians.

Reports have highlighted that Elzaenen previously called for violence against Jews and even referenced the Holocaust in his posts, prompting concerns about his suitability as a commentator. The BBC admitted that Elzaenen should not have been included in their coverage, reiterating their condemnation of anti-Semitism and clarifying that quoting him does not equate to endorsing his views.

Despite earlier assurances, the broadcaster used Elzaenen again, raising questions about editorial oversight and the vetting of contributors. The controversy has sparked debate about the responsibilities of media organizations when selecting voices for sensitive topics.
