Oxford City Council is considering raising the Palestinian flag during a potential visit by the mayor of Ramallah, one of its seven twin cities. The move comes after calls from local officials to show solidarity with Palestine, especially in light of ongoing conflict in Gaza. The council has previously passed motions supporting the Palestinian cause, including calls for a ceasefire and divestment from companies linked to human rights abuses. If the visit proceeds, it would mark the first time the mayor of Ramallah has visited Oxford.
