A historic Torah ark, cherished by the Jewish community in Romania for over two centuries, was stolen from its synagogue and replaced with a poorly made replica in 2016. The theft went unnoticed until a community member spotted the fake ark and raised the alarm. Investigations led to the discovery that the original ark had surfaced in an international auction and was being stored in a furniture warehouse in Israel. After a decade-long absence, the ark will now be displayed at Yad, marking its return to public view and preserving its legacy.
