Short-haul fares lower, long-haul fares higher

After a period of limited flights due to regional tensions, nearly 50 foreign airlines have now resumed operations in Israel, significantly increasing international activity at Ben Gurion Airport. This expanded choice has led to a sharp drop in airfares to many European destinations, with prices to cities like Athens, Rome, and Vienna falling by up to 55 percent compared to last year.

However, fares for long-haul flights have risen, with routes to Tokyo, Zanzibar, and Delhi seeing increases of up to 97 percent, driven by higher demand typical of the winter season. Flights to the United States have also become more expensive, with a moderate rise of 10 to 25 percent.

Travel demand patterns have shifted, with fewer travelers heading to Greece and Cyprus, while interest in cities such as Prague, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Krakow has grown, especially ahead of the holiday season. Overall, average ticket prices in Israel this November are about 5 percent higher than the same time last year, reflecting both the return of travel options and changing demand.
