Hamas has strongly criticized a United States-backed draft resolution set to be presented at the United Nations Security Council, arguing that it fails to promote stability in the Gaza Strip. Spokesperson Hazem Qassem called for a resolution that protects the right to self-determination for Palestinians and prevents further military action in Gaza, Judea, Samaria, and Jerusalem.
Hamas-affiliated sources warned that the American proposal seeks to impose international oversight on Gaza under the pretext of humanitarian aid, potentially disarming the region and delaying Palestinian sovereignty. They expressed hope that opposition from other countries, particularly Algeria, could prevent the resolution from passing.
