IDF: Hezbollah operative nabbed last year was key to group's 'secret maritime file'

The Israeli military has disclosed details of a covert operation in November 2024, during which naval commandos captured Imad Amhaz, a high-ranking Hezbollah operative. Amhaz was identified as a central figure in the group's clandestine maritime operations, responsible for developing infrastructure for attacks targeting Israeli and international interests. His interrogation revealed that Hezbollah exploited civilian institutions in Lebanon to advance its maritime capabilities, and that the project was overseen by senior leaders who have since been killed by Israel.

The raid, which occurred amid intense conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, provided the Israeli military with critical intelligence that disrupted Hezbollah's secret maritime activities. Since a subsequent ceasefire, Israel has continued operations against Hezbollah, targeting its members and infrastructure. Hezbollah now faces mounting pressure both internally and internationally to disarm, as the Lebanese army prepares a plan to strip the group of its weapons.
