The announcement was made during a professional meeting with Mayor Yossi Kakon, where local security needs and emergency response efforts were discussed. Since the reform's expansion, over two hundred forty thousand citizens across the country have received gun licenses, with officials citing numerous cases where personal weapons have helped thwart attacks and save lives. Both the minister and the mayor emphasized the importance of responsible armed citizens in enhancing local security, especially given the challenges faced in northern regions.
