United States Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack has called for an immediate halt to fighting between the Syrian military and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces, following recent clashes in Aleppo. Barrack met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, who reaffirmed their commitment to a March 2025 agreement to integrate SDF forces into national institutions while preserving Kurdish rights and Syria's unity. Barrack urged both sides to return to dialogue and exercise restraint, offering United States support for constructive engagement and inclusive integration.

Barrack also held talks with Jordanian Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safad, focusing on the violence in Aleppo and Sweida. Both diplomats agreed on the need for a peaceful withdrawal of SDF forces from Aleppo and emphasized the protection of civilians. They reiterated their commitment to a comprehensive resolution for Sweida and joint efforts to stabilize southern Syria.
