US Justice Department withheld allegations against Trump from Epstein files, NPR finds

An investigation by National Public Radio found that the United States Department of Justice withheld documents from the Jeffrey Epstein files that included allegations of sexual assault of a minor by President Donald Trump. A separate review by Cable News Network supported the findings. The withheld material reportedly included interviews with a woman who said Trump assaulted her decades ago when she was between 13 and 15 years old.

The documents were required to be released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which mandated full public disclosure by mid December, though millions of pages were published weeks later. More than 50 pages of witness interviews, including three involving the woman who accused Trump, were not included in the public database, despite appearing in official records.

According to an internal presentation from August 2025, the woman alleged that Epstein introduced her to Trump, who then sexually assaulted her and physically struck her when she resisted. A second allegation from another minor was also listed. The second accuser was described as a government witness whose testimony contributed to the conviction of Ghislaine Maxwell.

Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee said their own review confirmed that interviews with the survivor were withheld and announced plans to investigate. The Department of Justice declined to comment, while the White House said the files contained untrue and sensationalist claims and maintained that Trump had been fully cleared of wrongdoing related to Epstein.
