Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recalled a personal connection to India during remarks alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sharing that an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv played a special role in the early days of his relationship with his wife, Sara. He said one of their first dates took place at the restaurant, where Sara was introduced to Indian cuisine for the first time.
Netanyahu described the evening as memorable, praising both the food and the company, and said he felt a 'great personal debt' to India. The restaurant, owned by Indian restaurateur Reena Pushkarna and popularly known as Tandoori Tel Aviv, was identified as the venue where the couple dined at Table No 8.
Pushkarna has previously said that the couple’s first date took place at her establishment and noted that Netanyahu remains a regular patron of Indian cuisine, particularly fond of dishes such as butter chicken and karahi chicken. Netanyahu’s remarks came during Modi’s two-day visit to Israel, which focused on strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation.
