Indo-Israeli fire control systems clear field trials, fitted on 96 Army T-72 tanks - The Times of India

The Indian Army has completed the installation of Indo-Israeli Thermal Imaging Fire Control Systems on 96 T-72 tanks after the systems successfully cleared firing validation trials. Developed and manufactured in Bengaluru with technical support from an Israeli defence firm, the upgrade enhances the tanks' operational effectiveness, particularly in low-visibility and night combat conditions.

The advanced system improves target acquisition and accuracy by automatically processing sensor inputs, performing ballistic corrections and enabling continuous tracking of moving targets. These capabilities address limitations of older optical equipment and extend the service life and battlefield relevance of the T-72 fleet.

The project was executed by a joint venture between an Indian defence company and an Israeli partner under a 2023 contract. The systems were manufactured in India as part of the government's push for defence indigenisation. Following the completion of this order, the company has reported increased demand for indigenous defence supplies, with more orders from Indian forces expected.
