Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened the Cabinet Committee on Security to review the escalating conflict in West Asia and assess its implications for India. With nearly 9.6 million Indians living across the region, including thousands in Iran and Israel, the government is prioritising the safety of its citizens amid airspace closures and heightened security alerts.
Authorities have issued travel advisories, activated helplines and directed urgent assistance for stranded travellers and students. While evacuations are not immediately planned due to operational challenges, preparations are underway should the situation deteriorate.
India is also closely monitoring potential disruptions to oil supply routes and commercial activity, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz. Emphasising its strong ties across the region, New Delhi has signalled a balanced approach focused on safeguarding citizens, maintaining stability and encouraging dialogue to prevent further escalation.
