The Government has launched an independent review into how schools and colleges in England identify, respond to, and prevent antisemitism. The review will assess whether institutions are properly supported to manage incidents, examine existing policies and guidance, and consider what happens when cases are not handled effectively. Recommendations are expected in Autumn 2026.

The initiative follows reports of rising antisemitic incidents in education settings. Data from the Community Security Trust recorded 204 school-related incidents in 2025, roughly double the levels seen before 2023. Surveys also show that more than one fifth of British Jewish parents say their children have experienced antisemitism connected to school, while 51 percent of Jewish teachers reported facing antisemitism at work in the past year.

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson said the review will help ensure schools and colleges have the confidence and resources to tackle antisemitism. The Government has already committed £7 million to educational initiatives, including funding for training, resources, and an innovation fund to develop practical solutions. Sir David Bell, a former senior education official, will lead the review and has pledged to approach the work with independence and an open mind.
