Israel’s war with Iran has entered its twelfth day and is expected to continue beyond the length of last year’s conflict that targeted Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Since the fighting began, Iran has launched more than 200 ballistic missiles at Israel, while Hezbollah has fired hundreds of additional rockets and drones. Despite casualties and significant trauma, far greater losses have been prevented due to the public’s adherence to safety instructions and use of shelters.

Daily life has settled into a tense routine, with limited missile barrages each day and civilians returning to workplaces and cafes between alerts. However, there are growing concerns that as the war stretches on, complacency could weaken public vigilance. Another fear is that internal divisions could emerge over how to balance economic activity, school closures, and family responsibilities.

While public support for weakening the Iranian threat remains strong, political disagreements have surfaced بشأن managing the home front. The government has encouraged a partial economic reopening while keeping schools on remote learning, offering unpaid leave for one parent in families with young children. The editorial argues that although no perfect solution exists during wartime, Israel’s resilience, unity, and responsible governance will be decisive in determining the war’s outcome.
