Authorities seized more than 375,000 smuggled eggs during a joint overnight operation in an underground parking lot in Bnei Brak. The operation was carried out by the Supervision Department of the Egg and Poultry Board together with municipal police.
Inspectors discovered pallets of eggs spread across two levels of the parking facility, along with a warehouse containing dozens of additional pallets. A further search uncovered another closed warehouse with more stock. In total, 1,252 cartons on 51 pallets were confiscated, amounting to 375,600 eggs.
Some of the eggs bore counterfeit stamps while others had no markings at all. Officials said the scale of the seizure was among the largest ever recorded in one location and required four trucks to remove the products for destruction.
According to Uri Darzi, Director of the Supervision Department, the quantity and concealment of the eggs point to a systematic attempt to introduce unsupervised products into the market, posing a tangible risk to public health.
