Louis Theroux is reportedly being lined up for a major new deal with Netflix following the success of his documentary Inside the Manosphere. The programme marked his first project for the streaming platform after decades at the British Broadcasting Corporation, and explored the rise of extremist online influencers promoting misogynistic, homophobic and racist views to young men.
In the film, Theroux interviewed several controversial content creators, including Amrou, known online as Myron Gaines, who hosts the podcast 'Fit and Fresh'. The documentary showed heated exchanges and featured discussions about masculinity, relationships and society, including moments where guests were subjected to offensive language. Theroux also questioned Amrou about his views on monogamy and his desire for multiple wives.
Following the documentary’s release, Amrou criticised the film and accused Theroux of misrepresenting him, claiming the platform edited interviews to make him appear extreme. Despite the backlash, sources say Netflix is eager to commission further projects with Theroux, a move described as an uncomfortable development for the British Broadcasting Corporation as it risks losing one of its most recognisable documentary makers.
