Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly ordered that as much of Iran's arms industry as possible be destroyed within 48 hours, according to The New York Times. The directive came after Netanyahu received a 15-point proposal from the United States outlining a potential plan to end the war.
The move follows recent statements by President Donald Trump expressing optimism about negotiations with Iran. Netanyahu said he had spoken with Trump and acknowledged what he described as an opportunity to secure Israel's war objectives through an agreement, while emphasizing that Israel would continue to defend its vital interests regardless of diplomatic developments.
Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces are continuing strikes in Iran and Lebanon, targeting missile and nuclear infrastructure and dealing blows to Hezbollah. He also said that two additional nuclear scientists had recently been killed and that further actions were forthcoming.
Meanwhile, Reuters and The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran has rejected the 15-point proposal and returned to previous baseline demands that Washington had earlier dismissed. A spokesperson for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard mocked Trump's diplomatic efforts, saying the president is 'negotiating with himself.'
