Police in Pakistan have arrested over 170 people in connection with more than 10 mob attacks on KFC outlets, which were sparked by anti-United States sentiment and opposition to Israel's war in Gaza. At least 178 people have been arrested in major cities across the country, and security has been increased at KFC outlets in Lahore. The protests were not officially organized by the Islamist religious party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), although a member of the party was among those arrested. The boycott of U.S. brands in Pakistan has also affected Coca-Cola and PepsiCo's market share in the country.
