Court says government can't boycott attorney general, appoint new one until it rules

The High Court of Justice has issued an injunction preventing the government from appointing a new attorney general or refusing to work with the current attorney general, Gali Baharav-Miara, until the court delivers further instructions. This follows a cabinet vote to dismiss Baharav-Miara, a decision the court has temporarily blocked while it reviews petitions challenging her removal. The court emphasized that Baharav-Miara's legal opinions and oversight of prosecutions remain binding on the government during this period. The move comes amid government threats to boycott the attorney general and bypass the court's authority, actions the court's order aims to prevent until a final ruling is made.
