IDF says it killed deputy commander of Hamas's Beit Hanoun Battalion, who participated in Oct. 7 onslaught

The Israeli military has announced the killing of Murad Abu Jarad, the deputy commander of Hamas's Beit Hanoun Battalion, during recent operations in northern Gaza. Abu Jarad, who had been acting as the battalion's commander for much of the year, was reportedly involved in attacks against Israeli forces and participated in the events of October 7, 2023. In a separate action, the military also reported the death of Mohammed Dardawasi, the head of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad's anti-tank missile unit in Gaza City, who was likewise linked to the October 7 attacks. Additional strikes targeted and killed several operatives from both Hamas and Islamic Jihad, who were said to be involved in rocket and sniper attacks.
