National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has called for the immediate demolition of the grave of Izzedine al-Qassam, located in the Haifa-area town of Nesher. Ben Gvir urged Nesher's mayor to issue a demolition order, stating that police would secure the operation to send a strong message against honoring figures associated with terrorism. Izzedine al-Qassam, originally from Syria, was known for his violent resistance against French and British rule, as well as attacks on Jewish communities in Palestine during the 1930s. His legacy continues through the military wing of Hamas, which bears his name, and the rockets used in attacks on southern Israel.
