German prosecutors have charged a Russian national with planning an attack on the Israeli embassy in Berlin and attempting to join the Islamic State group. The suspect, known as Akhmad E., allegedly researched how to make explosives online but was unable to obtain the necessary materials. Authorities believe he intended to travel to Pakistan for military training and funded his trip by selling smartphones acquired through mobile phone contracts. He is also accused of translating propaganda into Russian and Chechen for the group. The charges include preparing and inciting a serious act of violence and attempting to join a terrorist organization abroad.
