Ha'arun Nasser al-Din, a senior Hamas official, has condemned increased Jewish visits to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during the upcoming Rosh Hashanah holiday, describing them as a 'dangerous escalation' and part of a broader campaign against Islamic holy sites. In his statement, Nasser al-Din called on Palestinians across Jerusalem, Israel, Judea, and Samaria to gather at Al-Aqsa Mosque, pray, and maintain a strong presence to prevent what he termed 'settler incitement.'
With Hamas's military capabilities diminished by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the group has shifted its strategy from rocket attacks to encouraging mass protests and confrontations in response to perceived threats to the status quo at the site. Despite these calls for mobilization, Hamas's efforts to rally large-scale demonstrations have so far achieved only limited results.
