The Abu Samra family in Gaza, descendants of Palestinians displaced in 1948, fear another Nakba as they face displacement, hunger, and destruction in the current war with Israel. Nearly 2 million people have been driven from their homes in Gaza, with Israel's defense ministry promoting a plan to force much of the population into a small area near the Gaza-Egypt border. The family's patriarch, Abdallah Abu Samra, longs to return to his childhood village in present-day Israel, but now lives in a tent in southern Gaza, separated from most of his family and dreaming of going home.
