New hope for stroke victims as doctors trial 'game-changer' pill

Dr Sean Dukelow is leading a clinical trial of the HIV drug Maraviroc in stroke and brain injury survivors, hoping to prove its effectiveness in helping damaged cells rewire themselves. The drug, first approved in 2007, has shown promise in enhancing recovery after brain trauma. The trial is double-blinded and will continue for two more years.
