Head of Khan Younis militia pleads for international community to protect Gazans against Hamas executions

Hossam al-Astal, a militia leader in Khan Younis who operates with support from Israel, has publicly called on the international community to intervene and protect Gaza's residents from a wave of executions reportedly carried out by Hamas. In a video obtained by The Times of Israel, al-Astal expresses gratitude to United States President Trump for his efforts toward a ceasefire, but urges further action to shield Gazans from internal violence.

Al-Astal accuses Hamas of killing hundreds of civilians, including children and the elderly, and likens the group's actions to those of the Islamic State. He emphasizes that his militia does not seek power or influence in Gaza, but aims to transition the region from Hamas's rule to civilian governance that prioritizes peace and the well-being of residents.

Following the release of the video, al-Astal reiterated in a conversation with The Times of Israel that his group remains committed to fighting Hamas and protecting the people of Gaza.
