Two Israeli soldiers were killed and three wounded in an attack by Palestinian gunmen in southeastern Rafah, Gaza, on Thursday morning. The soldiers, Major Yaniv Kula and Staff Sergeant Itay Yavetz, were both members of the Nahal Brigade's 932nd Battalion. The attack began when a group of gunmen emerged from a tunnel and fired rocket-propelled grenades at an excavator, followed by sniper fire that wounded additional troops. The incident occurred in an area under Israeli control as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, where troops were clearing Hamas infrastructure. In response, Israeli forces launched immediate air and ground strikes in the area, targeting tunnel systems previously used by Hamas.
