Avram Grant has stepped down as coach of the Zambia national soccer team just eight weeks before the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Grant's departure follows a disappointing run in World Cup qualifying, where Zambia suffered three consecutive home defeats without scoring. Despite these setbacks, Grant expressed pride in the progress made during his tenure, which saw Zambia qualify for back-to-back continental tournaments.
The Zambian federation has not yet named a replacement for Grant. Zambia will face Morocco and Comoros in its Africa Cup of Nations group, teams they recently struggled against in qualifiers. The tournament is set to begin on December 21.
