Initial construction is set to begin soon on the first two sections of an upgraded security barrier along the border with Jordan, according to the Defense Ministry. The first section will stretch from the Hamat Gader hot springs to Yardena, while the second will run between the Jordan Valley checkpoint and Yafit, covering a total of about 40 kilometers. The full project aims to upgrade the entire 425-kilometer border fence and is expected to cost approximately 5.5 billion shekels. The work will include infrastructure improvements such as earthworks, drainage, and new electrical and communications systems, with further planning underway for additional sections.
