A United States official has revealed that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard orchestrated a plot to assassinate the Israeli ambassador to Mexico, Einat Kranz Neiger. The plan, active from late 2024 through the first half of this year, was reportedly directed by Hasan Izadi, a senior officer in Iran's overseas operations unit, while he was stationed in Venezuela. Intelligence reports indicate Izadi traveled across several Latin American countries, building a network to facilitate the plot, but authorities say the threat has since been contained and Kranz Neiger remains in her post.
This alleged plot is part of a broader pattern of Iran's covert operations targeting diplomats, journalists, and dissidents worldwide. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard has been linked to numerous assassination attempts in recent years, including efforts to target high-profile American officials and outspoken critics of the Iranian regime. Despite Iran's denials, court documents and intelligence findings suggest a continued campaign of global lethal operations by the Iranian government.
