Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun met with United States officials in Beirut to discuss efforts to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism, following recent sanctions imposed on three members of Hezbollah. The United States delegation emphasized the need to cut off funding from Iran to Hezbollah, citing over $1 billion transferred since January 2025, mostly through money exchange companies. President Aoun assured the delegation that Lebanon enforces strict measures against financial crimes and called for international pressure to halt ongoing Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon. The discussions come amid heightened tensions and renewed violence, with Lebanon's government seeking to disarm Hezbollah and promote national security.
