Hamas rejects 'dangerous' US proposal at UN for Gaza stabilization force

Hamas and other Palestinian factions have strongly rejected a United States-backed resolution at the United Nations that proposes an international stabilization force for the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the groups called the plan 'dangerous' and accused it of seeking to place Gaza under international control, which they say undermines Palestinian sovereignty.

The factions also opposed any clauses calling for the disarmament of Gaza or limiting what they describe as the Palestinian right to resistance. They insisted that any international presence in Gaza must be under direct United Nations authority and coordinated with official Palestinian institutions, excluding any involvement from Israel.

The United Nations Security Council is expected to vote on the resolution, which supports a comprehensive ceasefire plan and the establishment of an international force to oversee Gaza's transition. Despite international efforts, Hamas has so far refused to accept the proposed demilitarization of the territory.
